Ilana Palmgren

(they/them) is a Finnish actor (FIA) and multidisciplinary artist working across film, theater, performance art, dance, and writing.

Palmgren holds an MA in Film and Theatre Acting from Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatory, Russia, where they deeply immersed themself in the Stanislavsky system of acting. However, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they immediately returned to Finland in 2022, completing their studies at the Theatre Academy Helsinki.

Palmgren’s work draws on the classical Stanislavsky system and performer’s dramaturgy. They have contributed to various productions not only as a performer but also by facilitating and shaping the overall artistic vision, with experience in directing, writing, and choreography.

Deep emotions, rawness, delicate details, and moments of surprise on stage intrigue me. In my artistic work, details that may seem minor or irrelevant often question social norms and structures.
